ABSTRACT
We present the case of a 9-year-old girl with acute suppurative thyroiditis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Early diagnosis was crucial for the outcome of the patient due to the severity of the disease. A review of the literature is also presented.

RESUMO
Neste trabalho é apresentado um caso de tireoidite bacteriana aguda em um criança lúpica de nove anos de idade, em que o diagnóstico precoce foi imprescindível pela gravidade do quadro. Em seguida é apresentada uma revisão da literatura sobre o assunto.
